       On 24th Jan 2018, at the Department of health consultation workshop was held on the draft guide the process made reviews of medical technology in Vietnam. Attending the workshop have Assoc. Prof. Pham Le Tuan, PhD -  Deputy Minister of health; Mr. Nguyen Van TIEN, Deputy Chairman of the Social Affairs of the National Assembly; DrYot Teerawattananon, program director reviews the medical technology of Thailand (HiTap); Leaders of a number of Service/Bureau/office/hospital/Institution/Department of the Ministry of health.

Speaking at the seminar, Deputy Minister Pham Le Tuan said: as well as many other countries in the world, Vietnam is pursuing efforts to target the health care coverage of the entire population. Increase the performance of the health system that will help control the increasing costs and synonymous with the expansion of coverage with available resources. Health technology assessment is viewed as an effective tool to improve the effectiveness of health systems with the goal to support policy makers in making policy decisions based on evidence. Comrade Deputy Minister stressed, the Health Ministry is very concerned with the development of the field of health technology assessment should have proactive partnership with technology evaluation program and health interventions in the Health Ministry of Thailand. One of the very important activity is the construction process guide done reviews of medical technology in Vietnam.

HiTap activity practices in many countries show that reviews medical technology can be important and practical contribution in building the health policy relating to a number of areas of priority are emerging as : building the health care benefits package; the choice of drugs and medical services are paid for HEALTH INSURANCE; selection of effective treatments; construction of standard treatment contributes to improve the quality of medical care.

Overview of the seminar 

At the workshop, participants are Dr. Yot Teerawattananon shared about the experience of building and guiding the process of implementing reviews of medical technology in Thailand, and will discuss, comments on the draft guidelines and processes perform reviews of medical technology in Vietnam.
