NDUN Trade Union with the voluntary blood donation movement

       Over the past years, voluntary blood donation movement of NDUN Trade Union and Youth Union has always been closely directed by NDUN Party Committee and authorities.

       NDUN propaganda and advocacy for voluntary blood donation has obtained good results based on the development and implementation of the program and the plan for propaganda and advocacy to set targets at the beginning of the academic year. There are two – three annual campaigns of voluntary blood donation. The number of people participating in blood donation and the amount of blood received have increased over the years.

       Over the past 5 years, NDUN Trade Union and Youth Union have cooperated with the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Department of Hematology at Nam Dinh General Hospital to organize 18 voluntary blood donations at the school for more than 8,000 union members. , students and staff attending the school obtained more than 6000 units of blood.

       Not only stopping at the concentrated blood donation, the school also established a "Living Blood Bank" ready to donate blood directly to save lives. With the achievements in voluntary blood donation, Nam Dinh Nursing University was honored to be sent a letter of praise by the Board of Directors of the hospital and the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit.

       This year Tet holiday is long, the weather is harsh and the epidemic caused by Covid-19 makes people afraid to go to crowded places; Therefore, many volunteer activities to donate blood have to be canceled, making the anemia for treatment worse. Even the blood reserve has been depleted. Recently, the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion has had to "call for help" on the mass media. Therefore, voluntary blood donation is essential. Humanitarian blood donation is no longer a specific individual's responsibility but very much in need of the contribution of the whole community.

       On 10^th June, 2020, blood donation with the theme "Voluntary Blood Donation Day" was organized by both NDUN Youth Union and NDUN Trade Union, the program took place all day with 325 participants as union members and students who registered to examine for blood donation. The program received 202 blood units.

       Voluntary blood donation is a noble act, honored and encouraged by the society. This movement has become a great activity, not only promoting the tradition of "mutual love" of the Vietnamese people, but also demonstrating the understanding and responsibility of each individual to the community. This good act is spreading more and more, bringing hope to unlucky circumstances to have more chances to live from the drops of love blood.
