       On 24th Jan 2018, in Hanoi, the Ministry of health in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) organized the Conference launch medical cooperation program between Vietnam and the World Health Organization fiscal 2018-2019.

Speaking at the Conference, Vice Minister of health Le Quang Cuong said: Vietnam is in the period of rapid growth also means that many of the traditional donors to withdraw or transfer the support of the medical profession to forms of financial aid are not transmitted President. Besides, Vietnam is to deal with the burden of disease, population grow older faster and the next challenge in the priority allocation of the budget. In this context, with the help of the World Health Organization back become more valuable in supporting the Ministry of health implementing health targets the entire population.

The World Health Organization is always a reliable partner of Vietnam in the protection, care and improve the health of the people. With over 40 years of cooperation with the Government of Vietnam, the World Health Organization has supported a lot of techniques and experience for the Vietnam health system. Advisory role in support of the World Health Organization is also very diverse, on all areas of the medical industry. Medical cooperation programme between Vietnam and the World Health Organization, fiscal 2018-2019 was approved by the Prime Minister in decision No. 48/QD-TTg on 11/01/2018, and will start deploying soon from you 12 year 2018.

Dr. Kidong Park, WHO representative in Vietnam also said medical cooperation programme between Vietnam and the World Health Organization will focus on 3 main objectives is to strengthen the main functions of the Ministry of health; capacity-building and national partnerships in order to ensure sustainable public health security; contribute to the effective management of infectious diseases and non-contagious. The World Health Organization will continue to support the Government of Vietnam made the goals of care and health protection.

Overview of the Conference

According to the new fiscal cooperation programme, Ministry of health and WHO will coordinate together to increase the capacity of health systems to deliver health care services, quality and equality for all people , especially the poor and vulnerable; meet the burden of infectious diseases and non-contagious and threats to public health; providing quality service in medical facilities; enhance the effective use of financial resources; and strengthen regulations on pharmaceutical products, vaccines and other medical products to ensure better access to essential medicines and medical technology. One of the problems is the World Health Organization cares for is a change in the structure of morbidity from infectious diseases to the disease is not contagious. Therefore, the priority issue is propaganda for the people instead of preventive treatment.
