Ceremony of championing the scaling up nutrition (SUN) movement in Vietnam

       On 31st Jan 2018, in the launching ceremony of the movement to promote the global nutrition in Vietnam and the deployment of the Prime Directive on nutrition strengthen in the new situation.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Minister of health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, said: over the years, the nutritional status of the people of Vietnam have increasingly improved. Vietnam was the international community reviews is the bright spot in the implementation of the Millennium development goals, especially the continuous and sustainable reduction of the rate of malnutrition can light weight in children below 5 years old from 31.9% in 2001 to 13.8% in 2016. However, Vietnam also are faced with many difficulties and challenges. As: the rate of malnutrition is still high level low whistle make up 24.3%; the rate of Overweight-obesity tend to rise faster, particularly in urban areas; micronutrient deficiency has not been improved; irrational nutrition increases the risk of the disease is not contagious (such as cardiovascular, diabetes, metabolic disorders, ...) ... Vietnam has a strong commitment and perform effectively in improving the nutritional status of people.

To implement the objectives of improving the nutritional status of people enhance the stature, and intellectual and physical implementation of Directive No. 46/CT-TTg dated 21/12/2017 of the Prime Minister about strengthen nutrition in new situation Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, specify: for nutritional woes of need focus to raise awareness, change behaviour, high responsibility of the whole political system, the community and each of the people. The Health Ministry will formulate and disseminate the recommendations, the nutrition, the diet consistent with target groups, area/region; nutritional care priorities on top of 1,000 lifetime. In collaboration with the other ministries concerned make good media work reasonable nutrition education; strengthening nutrition education and physical activity in the school system, practice sport in the community; ensure food safety, household food security, water supply and sanitation...

The movement promotes global nutrition (Scaling Nutrition-The SUN) is one of the only active movement based on the principle that all people are entitled to food and good nutrition. This aimed to mount people from Government, civil society organizations, the UN, donors, businesses and researchers in a collective effort to improve nutrition. We have 57 States and the State of Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh of India Republic committed to promote nutrition and activity are currently active in a collective as a movement. The SUN and the national network focused on key issues on 1,000 a window of opportunity to improve the nutrition from the fetal period to 2 years ... The launching ceremony of today's important events confirmed Vietnam's strong commitment in the protection, care and improve the health of the people, improve the nutritional status of the people and make commitments with the international community in the field of nutrition and health.
