On 27th Mar 2018, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Health held a Conference "strengthen infection control, prevention and control of infectious diseases in hospitals".

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of health Nguyen Viet Tien Conference opening remarks

       Prof. Nguyen Viet Tien, PhD -  Deputy Minister of Health attended and opening remarks to the Conference. Attending the Conference are also representatives of the Service, Bureau, Office of the (Ministry of health); leadership of the Department of health of the city, the Central Hospital, the General Hospital, maternity/paediatric hospital ...; representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Vietnam, the U.S. disease prevention (CDC) ...

       Speaking at the Conference, Prof.Nguyen Viet Tien,PhD - Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Health said: infection control has a very important role in the examination and treatment. When infection happens to suffer due to medical care will lead to serious consequences even death with the disease, reduce the credibility, confidence of people with medical establishments. Infection increases mortality, prolong hospitalization, increase the use of antibiotics, antibiotic resistance and increased treatment costs. The last time the medical industry has developed many solutions to improve infection control work in the treatment facility, however there are still many difficulties and challenges. To overcome these limitations, difficulty and orienting the work of development of infection, Permanent Secretary of comrades suggest the unit must be implemented seriously: done right, the full content of the legal texts , regulations, professional guidance on infection control issued by the Ministry of health; Fully equipped facilities, equipment, vehicles, conditions for prevention of isolation, endless practice, hand hygiene, environmental sanitation, sterilizing damn bacteria and arranged sufficient funding for infection control activities according to the pricing structure hospital fees for infection control; The full disposition of qualified professional personnel, have been trained and certified on the infection control professional, making sure health workers directly the treatment and care of the sick must be trained about hospital infections; Strengthen compliance supervised practice of infection control, hand hygiene compliance monitoring, surveillance of hospital infections, applying preventive measures, quarantine in accordance with professional guidelines infection control issued to reduce infection rate of the disease institution to the lowest level; Apply appropriate communication measures to raise awareness, knowledge and skills about infection control, strengthening the coordinated participation of the patient, the patient's home to improve quality of the infection control unit; Periodically, summarizing preliminary results report, implementing infection control hospital infection rates, regulation, quality improvement implementation of infection control contributes to ensuring clinical service provider of safety and quality.

Overview of the Conference

       At the Conference the delegates exchanged experiences, updated knowledge, learn new advances in infection control practices in order to enhance the quality of patient care. At the same time more than 200 units have signed a commitment to implementing the solution enhanced infection control and prevention of infectious disease in the hospital.
