Nam Dinh Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital sends a thank-you letter to NDUN students for blood donation

       On 17th May 2021, the Director of Nam Dinh Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology sent a letter to Nam Dinh University of Nursing to praise 07 students participated in direct blood donation. That helped save the lives of two severe patients with emergency surgery on 14th and 15th May 2021. Nam Dinh Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital would like to thank NDUN management board for organizing and directing the blood donation movement of NDUN students over the years. The hospital director wished that students involving in blood donation should be rewarded and encouraged by the hospital and NDUN. The hospital director also hoped that NDUN blood donation movement would be maintained and developed so that many mothers who had a stroke during the time they give their babies could receive the support of NDUN and NDUN students through their blood donation.

Direct blood donation at the hospital is one of the daily activities of NDUN Blood Donation Team. The team was established in 2011 under the direction of NDUN Party Committee, NDUN management board with the task of propagating and mobilizing NDUN staffs and students, people in Nam Dinh city to participate in voluntary blood donation; organizing and serving blood donation days at NDUN. Together with the development of blood donation propaganda and movement in Nam Dinh province, NDUN blood donation propaganda and movement has grown significantly in terms of organization, the increasing participation of youth union members. About 1,200 to 1,500 turns of youth union members are willing to register for blood donation and donate blood every year.

       Every year, in addition to the programs organized by NDUN, NDUN students are propagated and mobilized to participate in blood donation organized by agencies and organizations in the province such as: The programs at Nam Dinh General Hospital, Nam Dinh Youth Union, Nam Dinh City Red Cross. Propaganda and movement for voluntary blood donation are also made at hospitals in other provinces where NDUN students go to for clinical practice such as Vietnam Thuy Dien Hospitalin in Quang Ninh, 700-bed Hospital in Ninh Binh, Ha Nam General Hospital.

       Besides the blood donation propaganda and mobilization at NDUN, direct blood donation to save lives at hospitals in Nam Dinh province is focused. Up to now, more than 80 students have participated in direct blood donation to save lives at hospitals in Nam Dinh province.

About organizational structure, the team has more than 80 volunteers, basically divided into 5 main groups, each group has a team leader to manage and operate the work.

1, Communication Group: in charge of writing articles, making clips, designing communication plans, storing beautiful images of the team to introduce in upcoming programs and plans of the team;

2, Organization group: in charge of organizing events, contests, volunteer programs; planning, assigning work and checking progress and results.

3, Logistic group is a core goup in the team's exchanges. It often coordinates with the Organizing group to decorate and prepare for the programs.

4, Music group: in charge of music performance of NDUN and the Blood donation team. This is a place where the unique identity of the Team is stored and students good at singing, dancing, drama, musical instrument performance... are incubated and raised.

5, Game group: in charge of creating ideas for games in each program of the Team for the relaxation and entertainment. This helps relieve stress at work, and connect members in the team.

With the growth in both quantity and quality, NDUN blood donation propaganda and mobilization team has showed the leading spirit of young people. The Team considers blood donation to be a practical work, a noble gesture showing the spirit of humanitarian, humanity and enthusiasm of NDUN youth union members for the community. This makes an important contribution to health care and treatment of patients.
